History

This ancient and natural therapy has been handed down to us through the mists of time by many civilisations. We are told that the ancient Greeks used ear candles. Initially they were probably employed for cleansing, purifying and healing on a spiritual level. Much later the amazing efficacy of the candles on a purely physical basis was discovered. It is however from the native American Hopi Indians of northern Arizona, the strongest, most secretive and peaceful tribes left in the United States, rapidly gaining respect for their extensive knowledge and great spirituality, that the practice of ear candle treatment reached the rest of the world.

Hopi Ear Candle treatment

Ear candling is a gentle and non-invasive treatment which functions on two basic principles: one is the creation of a vacuum through suction and the other is convection.
Although a true vacuum is never fully created during the candling process, it is the continuous creation of a vacuum through suction that creates the pull of excess wax and debris from the ear canal. As the flame of the candle burns it is consuming the oxygen from both outside and inside the ear candle. This creates the suction that helps to extract excess wax and debris from the aural canal. The warmth is comfortably above the normal body temperature and provides enough heat to liquefy the soft inner ear waxes. Ear wax and any toxins present are drawn upwards and appear as a plug in the hollow base of the candle.
